Kaizer Chiefs founder and chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung has reacted to receiving the Doctor of Social Science Honoris Causa by the University of Cape Town.
UCT honoured the Amakhosi chairman for his contribution to football and social development in the country.
“Kaizer Chiefs would like to congratulate the Chairman for the prestigious title that has been awarded to him, as well as acknowledge his hard work in helping grow the game of football in South Africa and ensuring the upliftment over the past five decades of marginalized and disadvantaged footballers,” his club stated on Friday.
Dr Motaung was accompanied by his family and thanked everyone for the messages, saying he feels honoured o receive such a prestigious title.
“It was a memorable day in my life because it is a recognition by other people for the role I played with the help of others in football and this colossal brand that is Kaizer Chiefs. I’ll always treasure the day,” he said as per the club’s media department.
“It is (was) a great day for South African football and Kaizer Chiefs in particular. And of course my family.
“I feel greatly humbled and honoured for this doctorate by the University of Cape Town because people have fully applied their minds and believe I’m fully deserving of this honour.”
