New Chiefs Signing Explains Amakhosi Move

New Kaizer Chiefs defender Zitha Kwinika has commented on his return to Naturena, saying “it was the right time to come back”.

Kwinika, 28, left Chiefs in 2015 and now returned back home after a fine season at Stellenbosch FC, where he was named Player of the Season.

The defender is one of Chiefs’ new arrivals this window and has been given the Nr.4 shirt of Daniel Cardoso. The 28-year-old has for the time spoken about his move to his new club.

“I’m a God-fearing man, I believe everything happens at the right time. When I left the team, the instruction was to ‘go somewhere and get experience, so you can grow as a player’,” he told the club’s media department.

“For me to be able to get the opportunity to come back means the team has seen my growth. It was based on me going to Stellenbosch, leading the team and being named Player of the Season.

“The move back to Chiefs came about as a result of my hard work from the previous season.

It was on the cards and the team recognised it was time for me to come back again. I’m in a good state and ready to represent the team again.”

Kwinika racked up 56 appearances over the past two seasons in all competitions since his move from the now-defunct Bidvest Wits – where he won the league title – in September 2020. He was also named Stellenbosch FC Footballer and Players’ Player of the Season.
