Educated: Former Generations actor Thomas Mashaba ‘ Rantebeng Makapan’s educational qualifications stun Mzansi

Rantebeng Makapan made headlines after announcing that he would return to our screens as a producer after vanishing into thin air for decades. The actor was once one of the most loved actors on Generations. He played the role of Thomas Mashaba, son of a wealthy and vicious businessman. He had a charming way of keeping fans glued to their screens as the filthy son of  Kenneth Mashaba, played by (Seputla Sebogodi). His role made him a household name, and his looks would leave women drooling at him. However, Rantebeng suddenly exited Generations, leaving many heartbroken as they had grown fond of his character.

Although Rantebeng was a top-notch actor who nailed his role effortlessly, many don’t have the idea that he is highly educated. Back then, when he was an actor, being an actor was a career for uneducated personalities. It’s shocking that although he used to play a spoiled barman who hated education, he had a degree in real life. The actor loved by many is highly educated and has a degree to show for it. Rantebeng Makapan was born and bred in Soweto. He grew up in a family that believed education was the key to success, and his parents ensured that he had the best education. Although they lived during the apartheid era, Rantebeng Makapan’s parents did not allow that to be an excuse for them not to send their son to school. They wanted their son to be a graduate so he could help them in their old age.

Rantebeng Makapan did his matric in Soweto and passed with good grades. After finishing his matric, he enrolled for tertiary education at The Tshwane University of Technology, where he studied for a degree in Network Marketing and graduated in 2002.

After his graduation, he struggled to find a job as there was so much competition in the entertainment industry. However, fortune favours the bold; he won his first gig on Generations in 2004 and killed his role to perfection. His role was a bit comic, and he portrayed it perfectly, becoming one of the most loved actors on Generations.
