Swallows announce new signing of Lindokuhle Mtshali
Swallows have confirmed the acquisition of attacking midfielder, Lindokuhle Mtshali.
Mtshali joins the Dube Birds as a free agent on a two-year deal with an option to extend for another season.
The 24-year-old was recently released by Golden Arrows alongside Matome Mathiane, Maximillian Mbaeva, Siyabonga Dube, Siboniso Conco and Michael Gumede.
He also represented teams such as Real Kings, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates.
He managed to play 63 games across all competitions for Abafana Bes’thende, scoring three goals and contributing six assists in the process.
“The Butcher Birds would like to welcome Lindokuhle Mtshali to the nest,” read Maswaiswai’s tweet.
This is Swallows’ second signing after securing the services of Mamelodi Sundowns graduate Keegan Allan, who was previously in the books of the University of Pretoria. The defender was crowned the 2022 Nedbank Cup Young Player of the Season.
Swallows will be hoping to come back stronger in the 2022/23 campaign after a disastrous run the last term which led the team to play in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) promotional play-offs to save their own skin and remain in the South African football top-flight.
Now, it’s time for them to prove that early-season form is of paramount importance, and collect maximum points in their first meetings.
The club also lost some of their key players including the likes of Dillan Solomons, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Lehlogonolo Matlou, Ketha Ndlovu, Ruzaigh Gamildien just to mention a few.
Meanwhile, FARPost is aware of major changes looming at Swallows with Dylan Kerr’s return to The Birds’ nest looking more unlikely than ever.
During the recently-held ABC Motsepe League national playoffs in the North West, Kerr had told this publication that he had been assured of keeping his job after saving them from relegation, but things seem to be taking another direction with his job on thin ice.
