Eskom implements Stage 3 Loadshedding

The NPA’s Investigating Directorate says another former employee of Swiss engineering company, ABB was also taken into custody in Emalahleni in Mpumalanga this morning in connection with the same case.

His partner has also been arrested.

They are accused of fraud, corruption and money laundering.

In 2015, ABB was awarded contracts for Eskom’s Kusile Power Plant and Impulse International was sub-contracted.

ABB is alleged to have received an unfair advantage over other bidders for the contracts, in return, ensuring that money would be paid to senior Eskom officials.

“Two of them are expected to appear before the Durban Specialised Crimes Court and the other two before the Randburg Magistrates’ Court this morning,” says the NPA’s Sindisiwe Seboka.

“Further raids of the premises of all the accused transpired this morning, assisted by a joint stakeholder initiative led by the Investigating Directorate, the Hawks and SARS.

“This is the third seminal matter the ID is enrolling as committed to by the NPA.”
