Despite reports linking Thabang Sibanyoni with a move to Swallows, this publication has gathered that the striker might be joining SuperSport United.

FARPost has been informed that United have shown interest in the player and negotiations are at an advanced stage.

The 26-year-old had previously been linked with a move to the Dube Birds together with his teammates Thakasani Mbanjwa and Keegan Allan. Allan has since been confirmed as the latest signing by Swallows while Mbanjwa is set to follow him.

Sibanyoni was one of the star performers for AmaTuks during the previous season where they missed out on promotion to the DStv Premiership during the relegation/promotion playoffs.

He scored five league goals with two coming during the playoffs and one in the Nedbank Cup. The player was previously in the books of JDR Stars before his move to Sekhukhune United.

He spent two seasons at Babina Noko and was crucial in the promotion to the Premiership. Scoring six league goals during the 2020/21 season.  But his stay in the DStv Premiership at the Limpopo side saw him struggling for game time and subsequently joined the University of Pretoria.

Sibanyoni was part of the Bafana Bafana COSAFA Cup winning squad under coach Helman Mkhalele which was held in Port Elizabeth.

Meanwhile, University of Pretoria have reached an agreement with Swallows over the services of goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa. The 26-year-old move to the Dube Birds is subject to agreeing personal terms.

The former SuperSport and Bidvest Wits player played over 32 games for AmaTuks in all competitions. He has also been previously in the books of Cape Umoya United. Mbanjwa started his career at AmaTuks youth set up before he left to pursue his career at other clubs. He returned in July 2021.
