Kaizer Chiefs: Four signings which could help them challenge for PSL title

Kaizer Chiefs made over 10 signings this season and the changes have already started to pay off.

Players such as Siphesihle Ndlovu, Flavio Silva and Lebohang Maboe have played key roles in helping Amakhosi secure a third-place finish in the Betway Premiership.

After enduring five difficult seasons, the Glamour Boys are finally showing signs of progress under co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze. However, it remains unclear whether the duo will still be at the club next season.

Continuity could prove crucial for Amakhosi, and with a few quality additions, they could emerge as genuine title contenders next campaign.

Here are four players Kaizer Chiefs should consider signing ahead of next season:

Seluleko Mahlambi

The 21-year-old TS Galaxy winger has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 28 league matches for the Rockets.

Mahlambi’s pace, directness and creativity would add much-needed depth to Chiefs’ attack. Currently, Amakhosi rely heavily on Asanele Velebayi, Wandile Duba and Glody Lilepo in wide areas, making Mahlambi an ideal addition.

Fawaaz Basadien

The talented left-back has struggled for game time since his high-profile move to Mamelodi Sundowns. A move to Kaizer Chiefs could help revive his career and provide Amakhosi with a quality option on the left flank.

If Chiefs can negotiate a deal with Sundowns, Basadien could prove to be a smart long-term signing.

Tshegofatso Mabasa

Having already signed former Orlando Pirates duo Paseka Mako and Thabiso Monyane, Chiefs could once again dip into the Buccaneers market for Mabasa.

The striker is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, with Pirates reportedly unwilling to extend his contract. Mabasa’s experience and proven goal-scoring ability in the PSL could give Amakhosi the cutting edge they have lacked in recent seasons.

Devin Titus

Devin Titus has consistently troubled Kaizer Chiefs whenever they have faced Stellenbosch FC. Instead of suffering more headaches against him, Amakhosi may be better off bringing the dangerous attacker to Naturena.

His versatility, work rate and attacking quality could add another dimension to Chiefs’ frontline next season.
