  • Police have arrested 11 suspects, including four Mexican nationals, following the discovery of a multi-million-rand drug laboratory in the North West province.
  • Authorities say the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organised crime syndicates involved in drug manufacturing and distribution.
  • Investigations into the case are continuing.

Eleven suspects have been arrested in the North West following the discovery of a multi-million rand drug laboratory on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.

Among those arrested are four Mexican nationals and one woman.

Acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Puleng Dimpane welcomed the arrests and commended police members for their continued efforts in dismantling organised crime syndicates involved in the manufacturing and distribution of drugs.

“The latest drug bust must send a stern warning to criminals that the South African Police Service remains resolute and relentless in the fight against crime. We will continue to intensify operations aimed at disrupting and dismantling drug networks operating within our communities,” said Dimpane.

Police revealed that, in the past week alone, 280 suspects were arrested for dealing in drugs, while a further 2,573 suspects were arrested for possession of drugs during nationwide operations.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
