  • ActionSA has officially announced Nasiphi Moya as its mayoral candidate for Tshwane ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
  • Moya, who currently serves as Tshwane mayor, says her administration inherited a city in crisis.
  • She is now asking residents for another five years to continue restoring the capital city.

ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has announced Nasiphi Moya as the party’s mayoral candidate for the City of Tshwane ahead of the 2026 local government elections.

Moya is currently serving as the metro’s mayor, leading a coalition government involving ActionSA, the African National Congress (ANC) and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), following the removal of former mayor Cilliers Brink in October 2024.

On Saturday, 9 May, Moya thanked Mashaba for the trust and responsibility he had placed in her, saying she accepted it with deep appreciation and care.

“I accept this nomination as I ask residents for five more years to continue restoring Tshwane and deepening the progress we have begun to make together.

“Because my vision for Tshwane is clear: I want us to build a capital city we can be proud of again,” she said.

Moya said her administration inherited a city facing serious financial and infrastructure challenges.

“When I took office in October 2024, I inherited a city in crisis. The finances were unstable, infrastructure was deteriorating, and service delivery systems were failing,” she said.

She asked the residents of Tshwane for five more years to restore the capital city.

“The first 18 months were about stabilisation. The next five years must be about restoration,” she added.
