Mkhondo Mayor, Mthokozisi Simelane, is rubbishing claims he squandered R700,000 of public money having fun at the Durban July horseracing event this past weekend.
Simelane and council members insist the money was used on a strategic planning meeting in Durban.
Concerned residents protested outside the municipality’s offices in Mpumalanga earlier.
