Rolling blackouts have been downgraded to Stage 5 on Tuesday evening. This follows the 7 percent wage agreement reached between workers and Eskom. The power utility’s spokesperson, Sikonathi Mantshantsha, says the stages will fluctuate between 4 and 2 until further notice.
“Starting today [Tuesday] we will be implementing Stage 5 load-shedding in the evening between 4 pm and 10pm and we will do the same tomorrow [Wednesday] at the same time.
“The stages of load-shedding will then vary between Stages 4 and 2 for the rest of the week,” he said.
“Eskom is working hard to make sure that in the next few weeks we are able to at least get to the level where we were before the industrial action and that was Stage 2 load-shedding. I cannot give you a specific date as things do change by the hour and indeed by the day.
