Bonang Matheba spoke proudly about her 2026 collaboration with fashion powerhouse Thebe Magugu, which celebrates the Kingdom of Lesotho.

The South African media darling owned the red carpet during the exclusive premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 at the Eastgate Shopping Centre on Tuesday, 28 April.

The 38-year-old rocked a black and white pin-striped two-piece complete with a sleek hairdo and trendy shades.

On Saturday, 25 April, the ever-stylish Bonang blew up the internet with her photos from Thebe Magugu’s latest collection.

She showcased the Basotho A-Line high-waist skirt paired with a black blouse, a Basotho Unisex Poncho, a Mafeteng peplum dress, and her high bun hairstyle perfectly complements the outfits.

Thebe Magugu dropped his 2026 Fall/Winter Mafeteng Collection in April 2026, choosing the one and only Bonang as his muse.

His creations feature the Basotho design, as seen in the Seanamarena, a traditional blanket within the Sotho culture, worn by both men and women.

BONANG: A BELOVED MUSE FOR DESIGNERS

Our homegirl, Bonang, has enjoyed quite a long stint as a muse for several South African fashion designers.

During the formative years of Gert Johan Coetzee’s career, Bonang was often seen in his designs. The two were joined at the hip since they are also the same age.

Rich Mnisi, another fantastic designer, has enjoyed a stellar collaboration and friendship with Bonang. The pair even graced the cover of Glamour Magazine in 2019, talking about how they are redefining African fashion.

In 2022, Bonang rocked a Rich Mnisi dress from the JAMES collection at the Miss South Africa Top 10 announcement, which cost a whopping R17,000.

A REVIEW THAT CELEBRATES THEBE MAGUGU AND BONANG’S COLLAB

The Post, Officially! a trusted voice in South African fashion, had only praises for the Thebe Magugu and Bonang collaboration. He described it as a partnership we never realised was missing.

“Bonang Matheba being announced as the Thebe Magugu muse was totally not in my bingo card. Because in my mind that woman is so expensive,” he began.

“It’s a collaboration I didn’t know I needed. I’ve only ever seen this dress on Sarah Langa before, when they were launching the Mafeteng dress,” he added.

He also mentioned how the fashion brand is making remarkable waves.

“What’s exciting also is just their output, the work that they have been doing, because this comes after Thebe Magugu had an exhibition in São Paulo in March,” he continued.

“Where they were profiling key looks from the brand, which obviously included the look that Lauryn Hill wore at the DSTV Delicious Festival a year ago,” he added.
