A heated confrontation between Somizi Mhlongo and Ngizwe Mchunu at the 2026 Metro FM Music Awards continues to dominate headlines—now with both stars breaking their silence.

The drama unfolded at an afterparty in Durban, where Ngizwe approached Somizi in an apparent attempt to greet him. However, Somizi refused the handshake and instructed security to block Ngizwe from entering the VIP section, sparking a tense exchange captured on viral videos.

Ngizwe, addressing the incident afterward, claimed he approached Somizi out of professionalism and expected mutual respect. He accused Somizi of being dismissive and disrespectful during the encounter.

Somizi, however, stood firm on his decision. Speaking on radio, he said he has no regrets about refusing the greeting, explaining that engaging with Ngizwe would have felt like a betrayal of the LGBTQIA+ community—especially given Ngizwe’s past controversial remarks.

The clash has reignited public debate online, with many South Africans taking sides. Some praised Somizi for standing his ground, while others argued the situation could have been handled more professionally.
