Cape Town All Stars are set to leave Cape Town to relocate to Johannesburg.

Following an interesting 2021/22 season in the second tier of South African football, Igugu leKapa will leave Cape Town for Johannesburg ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

All Stars used Parow Park for their home games at the beginning of the season but later moved to Athlone Stadium following some issues with Parow Park.

More issues followed when they participated in the playoffs, and the Cape Town-based side ended up playing one game at Athlone Stadium and the other one at Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch.

All Stars will look to cut costs in the newly-named Motsepe Foundation Championship this season. With the league having six Limpopo teams, relocating will help them on cutting expenses as they normally take two trips, travelling to Limpopo from Cape Town, but, when they relocate to Johannesburg they will make only one trip to Limpopo.

iDiskiTimes learned that their offices will also be based in Johannesburg but it’s not yet clear whether they will remain Cape Town All Stars or be rebranded. Stars will have a meeting in the week to discuss further details.

This will mean there will only be one team in Cape Town in the 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign.
