  • Mazwi Mpumelelo Kubheka has been missing for nearly a month after last being seen in Marimba Gardens.
  • ActionSA is now demanding urgent national police intervention as frustration grows over the lack of progress in the case.
  • His family suspects his disappearance may be linked to a dispute over a spaza shop, though details remain unclear.

ActionSA is calling on the South African Police Service (SAPS) to urgently intervene in the disappearance of Mazwi Mpumelelo Kubheka, following growing outrage on social media.

The party’s president, Herman Mashaba, is expected to hand over a memorandum on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, to Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia, calling for immediate national intervention in the case.

Kubheka was reported missing on 2 April 2026 after leaving home to deposit money at a bank.

He was last seen in Marimba Gardens and has not been found. Despite a missing persons case being opened and two individuals being questioned, nearly a month has passed with no arrests and no clear breakthrough.

Details surrounding his disappearance remain unclear at this stage. His family has raised suspicions about Somali-owned spaza shop operators, although no evidence has been publicly confirmed.

Kubheka had recently taken over a shop previously rented by foreign nationals after they were allegedly forced out by members of the community.

His family believes the 27-year-old may have been targeted following a dispute over the occupation of the spaza shop.

The case has sparked widespread concern, with protests and growing public frustration over the pace and transparency of the police investigation.
