‘Any scoreline is possible’: Orlando Pirates defender warns Chiefs

Orlando Pirates defender Tapelo Xoki insists another huge scoreline is possible as the Buccaneers host Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday at the FNB Stadium.

The last time the two giants met, Pirates were 3-0 victors in February. While many fans are not expecting another big scoreline win, Xoki believes his team are capable of scoring more than three goals against Amakhosi.

Orlando Pirates looking for a league double

“We see the preparations going into these games. Yes, in a big game like that [Soweto Derby], we expect maybe a bit of resistance from the opposition, but once we click, any scoreline is possible with our team because we have hungry young players who are doing so well for the club,” said the former Pirates captain.

“We have people who are pushing them behind the scenes. For us, once we see the scoreline, we are not really surprised. We get encouragement that the processes are going well, and we have to make sure that we keep it that way.”

Orlando Pirates have secured back-to-back league doubles over Kaizer Chiefs in the past two seasons. A win on Sunday will create history as they would have beaten Amakhosi six consecutive matches in the Betway Premiership.

A win will keep the Buccaneers in the title hunt but anything less could see Mamelodi Sundowns inch closer to their ninth straight league title.

Amakhosi on the otherhand need a win to increase the gap between themselves and AmaZulu for third place.
