Here’s how much Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are playing for

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are involved in a hotly-contested 2025/26 Betway Premiership title race which is set to go down to the wire.

However, there is even more added incentive for Bucs and the Brazilians with millions in prize money up for grabs for winning the league.

Winner’s bonus

There is a R20 million bonus for the winners of the 2025/26 Betway Premiership.

“The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has raised the stakes for South African football with the announcement of a R20 million prize for the winner of the Betway Premiership. This significant increase in prize money follows a landmark three-year sponsorship deal with Betway, valued at R900 million. This deal and the accompanying prize money boost are set to transform the league’s competitive landscape and attract more attention from both local and international football communities,” SportsPlus reported.

This means that both sides have added motivation to push for the title, itensifying what is already a fiercely contested race as the season reaches its decisive phase.

Currently, just one point separates Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns heading into the closing stages of what has been an enthralling Betway Premiership season.

However, Masandawana hold a crucial advantage in that they have played one fewer match, effectively placing control of the title firmly in their own hands as the run-in gathers momentum.

KAIZER CHIEFS FIXTURES TO PROVE DECISIVE

As the fixtures come thick and fast and pressure mounts, attention now turns to a pivotal factor that could ultimately define the destination of the trophy.

Notably, both contenders are still set to face Kaizer Chiefs. Amakhosi currently occupy third place and remain firmly in pursuit of their own objectives.

These encounters carry significant weight.

Kaizer Chiefs are not merely playing out the season. Amakhosi are striving to secure a top-three finish and qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.

Moreover, there is internal motivation within the Amakhosi camp. Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Ben Youssef will be eager to end the campaign strongly, knowing that performances in these high-stakes fixtures could shape their own futures at the club.

Consequently, these clashes are far more than routine fixtures.

Should Kaizer Chiefs manage to hold either contender to a draw, or even secure a surprise victory, the balance of power could shift dramatically.

In a title race defined by fine margins, those dropped or gained points may prove decisive in determining who ultimately finishes top of the table.
