Seven players to leave Kaizer Chiefs in June

Kaizer Chiefs have several senior players with expiring contracts. Will any of them stick around beyond June this year?

Several senior stars on the brink at Kaizer Chiefs

According to various reports, as many as seven senior players have their Kaizer Chiefs contracts expiring in June. They are Gaston Sirino, Khanyisa Mayo, Zitha Kwinika, Bruce Bvuma, Dillan Solomons, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Pule Mmodi.

Best Chiefs XI for next season if two new defenders arrive?

Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with several new defenders, most recently, Portugal-based 25-year-old Mhleli Mabuza. Could he walk into the side if he signs?

Bvuma; Mabuza, Moloisane, Miguel, Dortley; Ngcobo, Ndlovu; Duba, Shabalala, Vilakazi; Lilepo

Tactical tweaks on the cards

Is it time for Chiefs to play central player Rushwin Dortley in a full-back role for him to invert and make the side more compact? That is, if he returns to full fitness in time for the start of the campaign? A focus on youth in the front four would see Wandile Duba, Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi all fly the flag for the youth academy.

Silva’s super-sub status helps Kaizer Chiefs academy stars to grow

Meanwhile, foreign stars are doing the business for Kaizer Chiefs. The increasingly impressive Congolese attacker Glody Lilepo looks the part up top. The 28-year-old, who was signed primarily as a right winger, has four goals and three assists in the league this term. It’s not the most prolific return, but with the support of a youthful attacking midfield trio, he’s a decent short-term option. Duba and Vilakazi scored against Magesi, Lilepo claimed an assist, and Lilepo was the only goal-scorer against Durban City. In a 4-1 beating of Magesi, Khanyisa Mayo got himself on the score sheet, as did Duba, Flavio Silva and Shabalala. Silva now has seven goals in the league in just 16 appearances. Super sub status confirmed!
