Patrick Muldoon, who played Austin on ‘Days of Our Lives’, dies

Patrick Muldoon, the actor best known to South African audiences as Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives, has died.

Muldoon reportedly died from a heart attack. He was 57.

Dateline reports that Muldoon’s death came suddenly on Sunday morning while he was at home.

He is survied by his partner, Miriam Rothbart, his parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon, Sr.; sister and brother-in-law Shana and Ahmet Zappa, niece Halo and nephew Arrow Zappa.

Days of Our Lives actors pay tribute to Patrick Muldoon

The actress who played Carrie, his love interest on Days of Our Lives, Christie Clark, paid tribute to Muldoon, stating: “This gorgeous Irish man was just as beautiful inside as outside. P Muldoon made anyone that met him fall in love with him.
Thank you for the hard belly laughing, nostril flaring uproarious good times I had with you. They’re imprinted on my heart and soul. My Irish friend, Jim morrison/Marlon Brando re-incarnated, lover of life & music. Sending massive hugs to his most prized people, Deanna, Patrick Sr, Shana, Amhet, Halo, Arrow and of course his love Miriam. Thinking of you. This song was C&A love song for years on #daysofourlives And with this song and so many other songs, I will always think of you when I hear this and smile and think of my lovely mischievous and much missed beautiful friend.”

Alison Sweeney, who played Carry’s younger sister Sammy on Days of Our Lives posted this message on X upon hearing about his death.

“This is such heartbreaking news. Pat was a rare kind of person—brilliantly talented, endlessly kind, and generous in spirit. I was so lucky to have worked with him when I first started at Days, he made me feel at ease right away. He brought his unique charm and humor to work every day. A truly gifted guy, and one who will be profoundly missed.”

Muldoon had just completed Dirty Hands with Denise Richards, which is due out on 24 April.
