Orlando Pirates unveiled their latest signings on Monday after they underwent their routine medical tests ahead of the pre-season preparations.

Pirates sent shockwaves through the local football fraternity with the announcement of 46-year-old Spaniard Jose Riveiro from FC Inter Turku, a name not familiar to many.

While he’s earned high praise in Finland, a mammoth task awaits him after being entrusted on a three-year deal to bring back the glory days to the Buccaneers.

The club has already secured six new signings this season, Evidence Makgopa, Azola Matrose, Miguel Timm, Bienvenu Eva Nga, Tapelo Xoki and Nkosanathi Sibisi.

While Makgopa was already secured last season, he arrives after the relegation with Baroka, where he remained after sealing his reported R10-million transfer, something teenager Matrose is set to embark on as he looks set to remain in with Chippa United in the upcoming season.

But Timm, Xoki, Sibisi and Eva Nga look set for key roles immediately with the club having released Thulani Hlatshwayo, Ntsikelelo Nyauza, Thabang Monare, Linda Mntambo, Justice Chabalaa, Kwanda Mngonyama, Gabdinho Mhango and Abel Mabaso.

The players were all unveiled in a social media post on Monday by the club as they look set for another rebuild under Riveiro with the new-look technical team.
