UJ & Durban Ladies Earn Big Wins

There were five fixtures on week 12 of the Hollywoodbets Super League, the last round of matches for the domestic campaign before the break owing to the 2022 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations starting from 2-23 July 2022 in Morocco. 

Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies dropped two points against First Touch Academy in Lebowakgomo, a result that saw them drop to fifth position on the log with 21 points from 12 matches. The Limpopo side remained in 12th spot with 10 points from 11 games.

MaIndies Ladies were 2-1 winners over City Lads at Isaac Wolfson stadium to move to third position on the log with 23 points from 12 matches, while the rookies remained in 14th place with five points in 11 outings. 

Durban Ladies thumped Golden Ladies 5-1 at the King Zwelithini stadium. The Kwa-Zulu Natal-based outfit are ninth on the standings with 18 points from 11 games while Golden Ladies remain second from bottom, with three points from 12 matches.

University of Johannesburg (UJ) were the other big winners as they hammered Thunderbirds Ladies 5-1 in Johannesburg. UJ are placed seventh with 20 points in 12 outings while Thunderbirds dropped to eighth position with 19 points from the same number of games.

In the capital city, Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) narrowly defeated Tsunami Queens 1-0 to move to fourth place on the standings with 22 points from 11 outings. The Queens remain at the foot of the table with two points from 11 matches too.

The clubs that have players in the national team did not feature in the last two rounds. Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies go into the break sitting at the top of the log with 27 points from 10 matches, a four-point gap from their nearest rivals.
