New Gallants Boss Folz Not Fazed By Age Issue

Newly-appointed Marumo Gallants head coach Romain Folz, who is just 31-years-old, has said he should not be judged by his age, but by his ability.

Just after being appointed, Folz spoke to iDiski Times journalist Lorenz Köhler for the latest edition of the newspaper, and this was his response to the inevitable age question.

“I don’t think the age whether it be 30, 35, 40, 45, I think it makes no difference,” Folz told iDiski Times.

“As someone told me, in a very high position, I would prefer to have someone good at his job, being younger, than someone not good and having 20 years of experience.

“So in the end, I very much believe that’s just for me, I’m saying that’s one I take the example in my position as a coach to bring me a player who is 18 years old, and he’s very good at what he’s doing, but I think he’s very good.

“You bring me a 35-year-old, I think he’s not doing anything crazy and even with the experience that that guy might have, I always put the youngster in front.”

Folz is also quite familiar with the squad he is about to coach, and has been watching from Botswana.

“I know every single player of the team,” Folz said.

“I’ve watched many games, I followed, obviously being in Botswana, it makes it easier during the season to check and follow the PSL. So I’m very much aware of what’s in the league.

“To answer your question about my team: Now… I know every single profile, I have its position right now I feel I know pretty much everything.”
