Best Kaizer Chiefs XI with two potential arrivals

Posted on April 4, 2026

Kaizer Chiefs could have a brand new central defensive pairing next season. That is, if the latest transfer rumours turn out to be accurate.

Best Kaizer Chiefs XI for 2026-27?

Bvuma; Monyane, Moloisane, Miguel, Dortley; Ngcobo, Maboe; Duba, Shabalala, Vilakazi; Lilepo

The latest transfer rumours point to activity involving central defence. Thabo Moloisane is a long-standing target, while Bright Ndlovu has impressed for Sekhukhune. Interest in defenders isn’t a surprise, given long-term injuries sustained by Rushwin Dortley and Given Msimango, as well as Inacio Miguel’s questionable defensive record.

Reshuffle in defence?

Is it time for Chiefs to play central player Rushwin Dortley in a full-back role for him to invert and make the side more compact? That is, if he returns to full fitness in time for the start of the campaign? A focus on youth in the front four would see Wandile Duba, Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi all fly the flag for the youth academy. Ahead of them, the increasingly impressive Glody Lilepo looks the part up top. The 28-year-old, who was signed primarily as a right winger, has three goals and two assists in the league this term. It’s not the most prolific return, but with the support of a youthful attacking midfield trio, he’s a decent short-term option. Duba and Vilakazi scored last time out against Magesi, Lilepo claimed an assist, and Lilepo was the only goal-scorer against Durban City.

Kaizer Chiefs’ remaining fixtures in 2025-26

After a routine 2-0 win over Magesi, which followed a 1-0 win over Durban City, Chiefs are red-hot favourites to finish inside the top three. They trail third-placed AmaZulu by a point, but have two games in hand on Usuthu.
