“It’s not going to be easy to move him”: Makaab on Kodisang | Breaking News

Kobamelo Kodisang’s agent Mike Makaab has admitted that moving the Portugal-based star to a local club will not be easy.

The 22-year-old is being linked with a return to South Africa with Kaizer Chiefs reportedly keen on his signature. However, his agent has highlighted that he still has two years left on his current deal with Braga – although he is not ruling out a potential return to the Premier Soccer League.

Speaking to Gagasi FM, Makaab said Braga decided to exercise their two-year option on the player’s contract, which will keep him at the club until June 2024.

“Braga has extended KK’s contract, and I think we said that before, they’ve exercised their option,” he explained.

“KK is a top-class young player. It’s not going to be easy for us to move him away from the club, but what we’ve done is that we’ve made it clear to them that we will not accept him being loaned out to a club in the Portuguese second division.”

Kodisang has been a key player for Braga’s reserve team since joining the club in 2019, scoring 16 goals in 55 appearances in the second and third tier of Portuguese football. He was also one of the stand-out players for South Africa at last year’s Olympics in Tokyo – which proved his readiness for regular first-team football.

“If that’s the case, we will rather consider bringing him back to South Africa. That’s where we stand at the moment, we have to respect that KK is contracted to Braga, but we are doing everything in our power to find a solution for the young man, most importantly for his football career.

” So, whatever his next move is, we can’t guarantee game time. At least there must be a real opportunity for him to get good game time. One of the considerations would be for him to come back here, it’s not the only consideration, but it is a consideration.”

The former Bidvest Wits star has been on holiday at his home in Rustenburg following a successful season in Portugal. Still, with pre-season expected to start in the coming weeks, he is scheduled to fly back to Portugal to join his teammates ahead of the new campaign.

“KK is still in South Africa, but he is due to fly back to Portugal to commence pre-season training with Braga – Unless something happens before then,” he concluded.
