Former Mrs South Africa Verushka Singh stepped down from the title in order to prioritise her son, who has special needs.

VERUSHKA SINGH STEPS DOWN TO PRIORITISE FAMILY

The Mrs South Africa organisation announced that Verushka Singh stepped down from her title via an Instagram post last week. In the post, the beauty queen expressed that she was grateful for the opportunity and this was a result of putting her family’s needs at heart. Verushka, who made history as the first Indian woman to hold the title, reportedly has a special needs son who requires more care and attention.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have served on this platform and for the incredible women I’ve had the privilege of standing alongside,” said Singh.

“This decision is entirely my own, made with my family’s needs at heart, and I step away with nothing but appreciation for Mrs South Africa and what it stands for.”

CEO of Mrs South Africa, Joani Jacobs, said that Verushka carried the Mrs South Africa title with dedication.

“Verushka has carried the title with dedication and professionalism during her time on the platform,” said Jacobs.

“We respect her decision and support her in prioritising what matters most in this season of her life.”

WHO IS THE NEW MRS SOUTH AFRICA?

First runner up Carika Bebb has since become Mrs South Africa. So, who is Carika?

  • She lives in Cape Town
  • Carika is 44 years old
  • She is a qualified Fashion Designer
  • The 44-year-old co-owns a business with her husband, Bamda Advisory
  • She is a mom of two

After she was crowned Mrs South Africa, she penned a lenghty Instagram post.

“Today was one of the most incredible moments of my life. This moment was shaped through years of trusting God implicitly and trusting in His plan for my life. I always knew the day will come when He reveals my purpose,” she wrote.

“I was crowned as @mrs_south_africa 2026 today. So many incredible women have worn this crown and God had a plan with each one of them but it’s never about the duration but the purpose behind it. From the beginning of this journey i was focussed on what God wanted to do in me and through me and where he wanted to position me to best serve His purpose and here i am you @mrs_south_africa,” she continued.
