The 21-year-old produced a standout performance in Pirates’ 6-0 win over TS Galaxy, scoring his first senior hat-trick and walking away with Man of the Match. It was a complete display, full of confidence, sharp movement and finishing.

That result lifted Pirates to the top of the Betway Premiership table, just one point ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns, although their rivals still have a game in hand.

ORLANDO PIRATES STAR HITTING PEAK FORM

Mofokeng now has seven league goals and looks like a completely different player compared to earlier in the season. Since the start of the year, he has delivered seven goal contributions in eight matches , four goals and three assists.

He also picked up the Player of the Month award for January/February, showing consistency to go with the moments of brilliance.

Pirates’ attacking display against Galaxy was not just about him, though. Tshepang Moremi, Kamogelo Sebelebele and even an own goal from Mlungisi Mbunjana added to a dominant afternoon.

OUADDOU WANTS MORE FROM MOFOKENG

“I think it’s important for him, but it’s important for the team, for the club as well,” said coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

“A young boy, a boy who is scoring a hat trick, it will give him trust, it will give him confidence as well to see that he can definitely perform at a high level. So it’s good for him.”

But even after such a big moment, the coach is not getting carried away. “It’s good for the log for us in terms of goal difference, and these three goals have to show him that it’s not the end.

“He has to keep working and maybe score some more hat-tricks in the future as well.” Orlando Pirates are in a tight title race, and performances like this could make the difference.

CAN RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG CARRY ORLANDO PIRATES TO THE TITLE THIS SEASON?
