Jampies Disappointed After Sekhukhune Exit

Cheslyn Jampies has opened up about his exit from Sekhukhune United, and the disappointment he felt after hoping he had done enough to get his contract renewed.

Jampies had hoped that the first round of 12 clean sheets and 32 points was enough to keep him at the club, but he was released by receiving a letter to his phone.

Jampies was one of fourteen players released by the club earlier this month.

The fullback feels “hard done by” because he played a critical part in the great season Sekhukhune United had in their maiden campaign in the top flight. The 31-year-old goes on to explain how this whole ordeal made him feel.

“Yeah I feel hard done by, the way certain individuals have brainwashed management or club should I say,” the former Baroka defender told iDiski Times.

“It takes years to run a club the way they did, in the first round players were happy and happy players worked for you.

“Players that work hard get results and I was promised by the club that my contract would be renewed. But then I got a letter sent to my phone saying the club will not be renewing my contract. Three minutes later it was on the internet,” Cheslyn chuckled away.

“It’s so sad, I laugh because of my pain. What do we teach our kids? I really wish the best to Sekhukhune United.

“I enjoyed my stay, thanks for the chance and I hope that the first round of 12 clean sheets and 32 points was enough. Mr Simon Malatji I’m grateful for the chance you gave me, you would always confide in me.”

Jampies, the former Santos and Uthongathi player went on to whether or not he was leaving by choice and if he would have loved to stay and possibly impress the new coach Kaitano Tembo.

“No of course not, it was not my choice,” he added.

“I would have loved to stay but I’m also a businessman as I mentioned that what do I teach my kids, when no matter what you do it’s not enough, for some people to try to break you.

“What Mr Malatji and his brothers and family had built over years and Coach Kaitano is a good man and this is the nature of this business.

“You won’t always have it your way but to him nothing but the best, to coach McDonald and Thabo Senong and coach Tembo.”
