South African radio personality and certified food enthusiast Nick Hamman announced on March 19 that he is writing a book set to be released in September 2026.

In partnership with the reputable book publishing company Jonathan Ball Publishers, the soon-to-be father shared on Instagram that the book will focus on his perspective on South African food and culture over the last ten years.

The 5FM radio presenter joins a list of celebrities, such as Somizi Mhlongo, who, despite not being professional chefs, have successfully published books about on food.

A BOOK ABOUT NICK HAMMAN’S FOOD ESCAPADES

Nick, who’s originally from Cape Town, carved a name for himself as a radio host and foodie of note, and a quick look at his social media pages will likely leave you salivating.

His brand of reviewing food is unique and refreshing since he indulges in pretty much every kind of authentic South African cuisine, from mogodu(tripe), meat from Shisanyama, pies, and desserts, you name it!

On Instagram, Nick penned the following caption to describe this fantastic new book project:

“I’m writing a book! I haven’t been this excited and terrified in ages. I’ve signed with @jonathanballpublishers to write a book reflecting on my travels of South African food and culture over the last decade,” wrote Nick.

“The plan is to release in September. I’ll be sharing the writing journey publicly. Feel free to share any well-wishes or advice,” concluded Nick.

THE MARKETING ASPECT OF NICK’S WORK IS COMMENDABLE

With over 200K followers on Instagram, Nick is not just reviewing food all over the country, but his platform also serves as a life-changing marketing tool for these local businesses.

In one of the videos where Nick reviewed a seafood joint in Soweto, the owner reached out to him and mentioned that her business skyrocketed after his review.

The exposure from Nick’s video led to the growth of her business as she opened a restaurant after operating from her aunt’s home, and it attracted a whole new target market.
