Maart Poised For Chiefs Switch

Kaizer Chiefs have agreed terms over the transfer of Sekhukhune United and Bafana Bafana midfielder Yusuf Maart.

Chiefs and his former club Orlando Pirates both enquired over the services of the 26-year-old midfielder after an impressive debut season in the top-flight but it was Amakhosi who made the first move when they made an opening verbal bid to the club.

While their offer was far off from the original asking price of R10-million the club was seeking for their influential captain, Chiefs have shown determination in their pursuit and view him as a potential key figure for their squad rebuild.

As reported in iDiski Times Edition 57, the club showed a willingness to renegotiate with Amakhosi over the fee due to Maart considering moving to the Soweto giants as a dream switch from not only a professional standout in his career but also financially.

Having picked him up as a free agent, he played a crucial role in their rise to the DStv Premiership as an exemplary figure within the squad before showing his capabilities in the top-flight just one year after being shown the door at the Buccaneers.

iDiski Times can now confirm Babina Noko and Chiefs have now agreed a fee in the region of just under R6-million, with the player having already agreed on personal terms with the Glamour Boys ahead of his expected move.

Maart, who was part of the Bafana squad who lost 2-1 to Morocco in their opening 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Rabat last week has racked up eight senior caps, scoring once since his debut in July last year.
