Musa Mseleku reveals pain of growing up without a father

Musa Mseleku breaks down over absent father on Uthando Nes’thembu

Reality TV star Musa Mseleku has opened up about a deeply personal part of his life on Uthando Nes’thembu.

In an emotional episode that aired on Thursday, 12 March, viewers saw a different side of the polygamist as he became visibly overwhelmed during a therapy session attended by his wives and two therapists.

The moment unfolded when human behaviour practitioner Bab’ Ndabe Myeza encouraged Mseleku to speak about his background.

What followed was a rare and vulnerable confession about a topic he has long kept private.

According to Mseleku, his father was largely absent throughout his childhood, leaving a gap that shaped much of his upbringing.

He shared that he was raised by his mother, Joyce, and his grandmother, Gog’ Flo, who played very different but equally important roles in his life.

While his mother ensured the family’s financial stability, his grandmother focused on instilling strong values and discipline.

The revelation also provided context to earlier conversations within the family.

In a previous moment on the show, his fifth wife, Samke MaKhwela, had questioned why Mseleku rarely speaks about his father, only to be told by MaCele that the subject was too sensitive to revisit.

Despite the emotional weight of his past, Mseleku explained that the absence of a father figure pushed him to build a more intentional and positive life for himself and his family.

That mindset is reflected in his recent decision to take his wives to therapy, particularly as tensions within the household have intensified in recent episodes.

Although he admitted that he does not always get everything right, Mseleku emphasised his commitment to showing up for his family and doing better where he can.
