Bernard Parker has spoken for the first time since his Kaizer Chiefs exit, while his agent has given an update on the player’s future.

‘Die Hond’ was one of nine players released by the club as the Glamour Boys are working on a squad revamp under new coach Arthur Zwane as well as Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. this window.

The 36-year-old leaves Naturena as the club’s record goal scorer during the Premier Soccer League era, as captain and one of the longest-serving players following an 11-year stint.

“I’ve seen it all, good and bad in my 11 years – from personal records, to becoming the club’s top scorer in my 11 years, I’ve won trophies,” Parker told Gagasi FM, talking about highs and lows of his time.

“I’ve seen the hardships, we thought we were close to winning the league title again and we suffered a set back.

“The team presented my with the armband and we’ve reached the CAF Champions League final, sadly we couldn’t win.

“But Bernard was always there, first to arrive and last to leave. It was a beautiful time at Kaizer Chiefs.”

Meanwhile, Parker’s agent, Mike Makaab, has confirmed they are working on a deal for the 36-year-old, but he didn’t want to reveal too much.

“We will unveil Bernard’s next ‘move’ in the next 2-3 weeks, whether as a player, a coach, or any other role,” he added.

“We didn’t speak to any other club in the last six months because Bernard loves and respects Chiefs, but we’ve had offers.”

Kaizer Chiefs had stated on their website the club’s management “will sit down with Parker to look at options of bringing him on board in a different capacity after his playing days”.
