Will Mofokeng return after Botswana move?

Orlando Pirates are the talk of the town in the PSL right now and continue to draw transfer speculation.

From Relebohile Mofokeng recently scooping the PSL Player of the Month award to their ding-dong battle for the Betway Premiership title: Bucs mean business.

Making waves

However, it’s one of their former players – another Mofokeng – who has been making waves outside of the PSL and who has people talking.

Tefo “Chippa” Mofokeng had been on fire following his loan spell to Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Botswana, until he picked up a knee injury earlier this year.

Initially, the talented Orlando Pirates DDC star was set to return from his loan spell north of the border.

However, he impressed the Botswana-based outfit to such a degree that they extended his loan deal back in August of 2025.

His loan deal is set to conclude at the end of the 2025/26 season.

However, given that he will be out of action until the end of May, his playing days in Botswana may well be over should Orlando Pirates elect to recall him to Mayfair.

Since joining Mochudi Centre Chiefs he moved from defence to attack and become a regular up front for his new club who are owned by Kaizer Chiefs legend Stanton ‘Stiga’ Fredericks.

Mochudi Centre Chiefs are currently third in the Botswana Premier League after 23 (of 30) matches this season.

They lie nine points adrift of log leaders Gaborone United S.C.

BUCS STARS SET TO GET GLOBAL EXPOSURE

Meanwhile, with FIFA World Cup 2026 fast approaching, several Orlando Pirates stars have the added incentive of global exposure if they are included in coach Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana squad.

The opportunity to showcase their skills will motivate the Bucs stars.

For every Orlando Pirates player it’s no doubt a dream to play at a FIFA World Cup.

Now, that dream will soon be a reality for those who make the cut for the global showpiece in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Should Orlando Pirates welcome back Tefo “Chippa” Mofokeng come the end of the season?
