Kaizer Chiefs are facing one of the most challenging periods of their season after suffering four consecutive defeats.

With almost two weeks without a match, the Soweto giants had hoped to regroup and recover. However, their preparations have been disrupted by injuries and suspensions ahead of their upcoming league clash against Durban City.

The Glamour Boys will be without defender Aden McCarthy and midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa, who are both suspended after accumulating four yellow cards.

Chiefs will also be without captain and goalkeeper Brandon Petersen, who underwent surgery last month. The 31-year-old is expected to return to action at the end of March.

Kaizer Chiefs looking to finish third

Amakhosi are now hoping to at least finish in third place as they look to salvage their season. They will have to fight for the CAF Confederation Cup without several injured players.

Midfielder George Matlou has reportedly been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after undergoing surgery last month.

The 27-year-old struggled for game time this season, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, his future at Naturena remains uncertain.

One of Kaizer Chiefs new signings Nkanyiso Shinga will also miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury on his debut against Richards Bay FC. The left-back managed only a few minutes on the field before being forced off due to injury.

Chiefs are currently without Given Msimango, Mfundo Vilakazi, Inácio Miguel and Etiosa Ighodaro, further compounding the club’s injury crisis.

Can Amakhosi find a way to finish in the top 3?
