27 year old allegedly stabbed his 5 year old cousin to death in Limpopo
Limpopo police confirmed that a 05 -year-old boy, Kgohlelelo Selowa was allegedly murdered by his elder cousin, Kagiso Moyane(27) in Limpopo outside on Monday, 06 June 2022 at about 16:30.
According to Police Spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, when the child’s mother did not find her two minor children at home, she assumed they were playing at the neighbour’s house as usual. She only found the eldest child and started searching for the 05-year-old boy with assistance of the community members.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo says the mother decided to check at her nephew’s room who is staying few houses away and made the shocking discovery of the lifeless body of the child next to the basin.
Mojapelo says the body was found with multiple stab wounds and murder case was opened.
He says a knife and sharp object believed to be the weapons used during the murder were found next to the body.
‘The Police were then later at about 22:00 informed that the alleged suspect was attacked by community members. The police found him assaulted and tied up with a rope. He was rescued and taken to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries in the early hours of today, 07 June 2022 at about 00:40’.
” I am saddened to learn about this horrendous and shocking Incident, especially when we just concluded the Child Protection Week. Our children’s safety should always be a priority and on the same breath, I warn communuties against taking the law into their own hands and urge residents to report crime to the police so that justice can be served’, said Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Hadebe.
