8-year old boy has drowned at Emerald Aquadome

VANDERBIJLPARK – An 8-year-old boy has sadly passed on after drowning at Emerald Resorts Aquadome on Sunday, 12 June 2022.

The resort confirmed the drowning incident in a statement.

According to  Mark Hands, Managing Director at Emerald,  “An 8-year-old boy was playing in the pool when he came into difficulty and was removed from the water by one of our team of lifeguards. CPR was administered at the scene until the paramedics arrived and tried unsuccessfully to revive the child.”

“We are deeply saddened by the incident and our thoughts and prayers go out to the child’s family and the team members involved at this difficult time,” said Mark Hands.

Aquadome will remain closed until Wednesday while counseling is offered to the family and Emerald’s team members.
