Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has included eight new players in his squad to face Guinea and France, including one Kaizer Chiefs and one Orlando Pirates player.

Broos called up 29 names into his provisional squad, which will be cut down before the first match against Guinea on 25 March.

The Belgian tactician has rung the changes from his previous squads, calling up eight players for a time under his reign.

He added three Mamelodi Sundowns stars, namely Lyle Lakay, Khuliso Mudau and Rivaldo Coetzee. In particular the absence of Lakay from previous squad had been widely debated in South Africa, but the left-back has now been called up and could make his second appearance for the national team.

Mudau could make his Bafana debut, while Coetzee already has 25 games to his name.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and Bandile Shandu were also named in Broos’ squad and could make their Bafana debuts following their fine performances at club level.

The other new faces are Chippa United’s Veluyeke Zulu, Stellenbosch’s Athenkosi Mcaba and Golden Arrows’ Nkosinathi Sibisi, who returns to the squad after being part of Broos’ first ever squad and playing 45 minutes in a 3-2 win over Uganda.

In addition, Goodman Mosele has also returned to the squad after going AWOL following his selection back in October. At the time, Broos did announce that Mosele will get a second chance and the Belgian has stood to his word, with Mosele also in line to make his South Africa debut.
