It is 17 games now for Richards Bay that they have gone without winning a game, and coach Kaitano Tembo says it is imperative that they start to collect maximum points before it gets too late.
However, the former SuperSport United coach, despite things looking bad, played down any concerns, saying they are on the right track.
Bay suffered a second successive defeat this season, losing 2-1 to Golden Arrows at King Zwelithini Stadium on Tuesday and they are propping the table at the moment with no point.
They started the campaign with a 2-0 loss to SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium this past weekend.
It is 16 league matches without a win and 17 matches in all competitions since they last celebrated a victory, which came against relegated side Marumo Gallants away in January.
It was their only win in the second half of last season, having won seven in the first round, which led the club’s chairman Sifiso Biyela to fire Vasili Manousakis and his entire technical team at the end of last season.
They appointed Tembo last month, and, despite losing the first two games, the former Sekhukhune United coach says things will soon fall into place.
“We have to find the right combinations, we need to give other players an opportunity to play,” said Tembo.
“But at the same time try to build a certain combination so that we can function properly as a team.
“We are on the right track but at the same time we need to start picking up points.”
Tembo, due to the MTN8 quarter-finals this coming weekend, will have time off and their next game will be against AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 19 August (17:30).
