Tyla to take the stage as 2026 MTV VMAs presenter

South African singer Tyla is set to take on a new role at one of the world’s biggest music award ceremonies after being officially announced as a presenter at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

CBS and MTV confirmed the presenter line-up yesterday, 24 September 2026, with Tyla included among a star-studded group of presenters for this year’s ceremony.  

The announcement adds another major international television appearance to Tyla’s growing profile. The Johannesburg-born star has established herself as one of South Africa’s most prominent global music exports, with her career taking her to major international stages and award ceremonies.

Tyla joins star-studded VMAs presenter line-up

Tyla will join several well-known names from music, film and television when the VMAs take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, 27 September 2026. 

The line-up also includes Alex Warren, Belmont Cameli, Brandon Sklenar, Charli xcx, Ciara Miller, David Corenswet, Ella Bright, Isabel May, Jeff Probst, Rachel Dratch, Teyana Taylor and Troye Sivan. 

The ceremony will be hosted by Snoop Dogg, who is hosting the VMAs for the first time. The presenter announcement comes just days before the ceremony, adding to the anticipation surrounding this year’s event.

Major performances planned 

The 2026 VMAs will feature performances from several major artists, including Madonna, Lisa, RAYE, Shaboozey, Gunna, Sienna Spiro, Yung Lean and GENER8ION. 

Madonna is scheduled to open the ceremony, marking her return to the VMAs stage after more than two decades. RAYE will make her VMAs performance debut, while Shaboozey and Gunna are set to perform their collaboration High Noon alongside Shaboozey’s Cowgirl. 

The ceremony will also feature a tribute to the late George Michael, with RAYE, Sombr and Teddy Swims taking part in the tribute performance. 

Tyla’s latest international milestone

Tyla’s appointment as a presenter comes as the pop star continues to build her international presence. 

For her fans, her appearance provides another opportunity to see one of the country’s leading contemporary artists represented on a major international platform.
