African champions Mamelodi Sundowns have officially unveiled their new home kit for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season, with the jersey proudly displaying a second star above the club crest following their CAF Champions League triumph earlier this year.
The new shirt marks a significant milestone in the club’s illustrious history after Sundowns claimed their second CAF Champions League title in May 2026, cementing their place among Africa’s football elite.
The latest home kit pays tribute to one of the most iconic periods in the club’s history by reviving the classic 1994 look. It features the traditional yellow shirt, blue shorts and white socks that became synonymous with the club’s exciting “shoeshine and piano” style of football.
Inspired by their 1994, the modern design incorporates subtle debossed yellow stripes, striking red PUMA logos and a thin green stripe on the collar, blending heritage with a contemporary finish.
The launch campaign, themed “Shine on Masandawana,” celebrates both the club’s rich history and bright future. It features current stars Grant Kekana, Thapelo Morena, Malibongwe Khoza and rising youngster Kutlwano Letlhaku alongside club legends Daniel “Mambush” Mudau, Roger Feutmba and former captain Hlompho Kekana.
Mudau was a key figure in the celebrated 1994 Sundowns side, which dazzled supporters with its entertaining brand of football under the “shoeshine and piano” philosophy. That team included renowned players such as Ernest Mtawali, the late Phil Masinga, Bennet Masinga, Sam “Ewe” Kambule, Zane Moosa, Joel “Fire” Masilela, Joas Magolego, Sizwe Motaung, goalkeeper Mark Anderson and Isaac Shai, following the club’s third league championship.
PUMA South Africa Marketing Director Brett Bellinger said the new jersey was designed to honour every generation that has contributed to Sundowns’ remarkable success.
“Mamelodi Sundowns and PUMA have formed a formidable team over the past decade and with the new kit we wanted to honour and celebrate all the players who have contributed to the club’s successful legacy,” said Bellinger.
“It is fitting that this ‘Shine on Masandawana’ kit will be the first to feature a second star marking the club’s latest CAF Champions League victory. More evidence that with Masandawana, the sky is the limit.”
Former captain Hlompho Kekana, who lifted Sundowns’ first CAF Champions League trophy in 2016, described the new jersey as a symbol of history and continued excellence.
“We felt different as players when we started wearing the PUMA kit in 2016 because it brought back memories of the great Sundowns teams of Mambush Mudau, Ewe Kambule and Chancy Gondwe,” said Kekana.
“Their legacy inspired us to push harder and emulate the club’s legends. This new jersey, carrying two stars above the badge for the first time, is a special piece of history that honours the past while celebrating Mamelodi Sundowns as the Champions of Africa.”
Supporters will be able to purchase two versions of the new jersey: the Authentic shirt worn by players on the field and the Replica version.
The Authentic jersey features PUMA’s advanced ULTRAWEAVE performance fabric, together with dryCELL and ThermoAdapt technologies designed to keep players cool, dry and comfortable during matches. The Replica version is manufactured using recycled polyester.
The new Mamelodi Sundowns home kit will be available from 31 July 2026, with the Authentic shirt retailing for R2,399, the men’s and women’s Replica shirts priced at R1,299, and the children’s Replica jersey selling for R1,199 at PUMA retail stores.
With two stars now shining above the famous Sundowns crest, the Brazilians will head into the new season looking to build on their continental success and continue writing new chapters in one of African football’s greatest success stories.
