An accident involving a taxi and a bakkie has killed a six-week-old baby and injured 17 other people on 9th Road in Bredell, Kempton Park.

The horrific accident happened on Wednesday afternoon, 18 March 2026, leading to temporary road closures in the area.

Five people, including both drivers, were critically injured, while 11 others were left in serious but stable condition.

All injured patients were transported by ambulance to various medical facilities within the City of Ekurhuleni for further treatment.

The cause of the accident remains unclear, however it is suspected that the crash was a head-on collision between the two vehicles.
