Defending Betway Premiership champions Orlando Pirates get back to domestic business this week. How will they line up against Durban City?

Pirates return to South African bread and butter

Orlando Pirates are back in Mzansi after vanquishing Mauritian side La Cure Waves FC. Next on the agenda for the Sea Robbers is a home clash with Durban City. Here’s how we think they’ll line up:

Pirates’ predicted XI vs Durban City: Chaine; Sebelebele, Seema, Zulu, Ndaba; Mthiyane, Dansin; Kgositsile, Selepe, Appollis; Mbuthuma.

Reminder of the Starting XI vs La Cure Waves: Chaine; Sebelebele, Seema, Zulu, Rapoo; Mthiyane, Mokobodi; Kgositsile, Masilela, Appollis; Mbuthuma.

Orlando Pirates are sitting pretty in the league

The Buccaneers came from a goal down to win 3-1 against La Cure Waves FC thanks to strikes from Kabelo Kgositsile, Kamohelo Sebelebele and Yanela Mbuthuma. Pirates face Durban City in the league on Thursday, 17 September. Kickoff is at 19:30. 24-year-old Mbuthuma has scored three goals in his last three outings and should retain his place ahead of Boitumelo Radiopane. City are a stubborn opposition, drawing three of their five league matches so far, but we expect Pirates to wear them down and claim three more points.

Prediction: Pirates 2-0 Durban City

What’s the situation at the summit of the table?

Sundowns remain top with 20 points after eight matches. Pirates are second with 13 points, but have three games in hand on the Brazilians. AmaZulu’s impressive start sees them third on 13 points after six games, while Chiefs sit fourth with 12 points after six outings.
