Global streaming giant Netflix has officially unveiled a high-profile new slate of South African series, feature films, and reality unscripted formats set to launch, marking a decade since its debut in the local market.

At a celebratory press gathering in Rosebank, Johannesburg, network executives, directors, and leading local talent reflected on 10 years of operations in South Africa. Since launching in 2016, the streaming platform has made over 300 local titles available to a global audience, partnering with more than 30 South African production houses and supporting over 8,000 local industry jobs.
To mark the 10-year milestone, Netflix is introducing a dedicated homepage row titled “A Decade In Africa: Worth Every Watch” across Sub-Saharan Africa, showcasing iconic homegrown hits alongside new local originals.

Love Is Blind: South Africa Hosts Confirmed
The local adaptation of the international dating phenomenon has officially confirmed media power couple Dineo and Zothile “Solo Ntsizwa” Langa as hosts. Produced by afrOkaans, the social experiment follows local singles as they attempt to build emotional bonds in the pods without meeting face-to-face before making a marriage commitment.
Stars and Vows: Anele & Buzza
Co-created by actress and producer Nomzamo Mbatha alongside Teddy Geldart, Vuyo Sowah, and Pet Tasara, this docu-soap and wedding special follows TV and radio personality Anele Mdoda and Bonelela “Buzza James” Mgudlwa as they prepare for their high-profile wedding.

Sequels, franchise expansions, and local drama returns
Alongside new unscripted formats, the streamer is expanding its established local intellectual property across romantic comedy and scripted drama:
- Blood Legacy Season 2 (Premieres 25 September 2026): The Ndlovu family returns to face corporate threats and long-buried internal secrets that threaten their corporate empire. The ensemble cast features Xolile Tshabalala, Buyile Mdladla, and Thembi Nyandeni.
- How to Ruin Diwali: Meet The Parents (Premieres 30 October 2026): The popular How to Ruin universe returns with a cultural spin-off co-produced by Burnt Onion Productions and Jayan Moodley. The comedy stars Rosemary Zimu-Mnguni, Kyle Clark, and Sonia Mbele.
- Another Disaster Holiday (Premieres 11 December 2026): Directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela, the holiday sequel stars Kay Sibiya alongside returning cast members in a chaotic Sun City family getaway.
- Seriously Single Too: Directed by Rethabile and Katleho Ramaphakela, the buddy comedy sequel follows Dineo and Noni on a Cape Town bachelorette trip that tests their friendship.
- Tuiskoms Season 2 & Marked Season 2: Returning dramatic series currently in production continue expanding regional narrative landscapes across the Western Cape and Johannesburg.
Expanding multi-title production partnerships
As Netflix enters its second decade of operation in South Africa, the company announced strategic multi-title partnerships to bolster the local creative pipeline. This includes an ongoing partnership with Tshedza Pictures, the creators behind Adulting and The River, for four scripted series, as well as a new scripted production deal with Bomb Shelter Film Productions.
The expanded 9-title slate underscores a continued investment in South Africa’s creative economy, proving that local stories continue to find a captive audience both at home and abroad.
