Jub Jub court case takes fresh twist after warrant of arrest

Media personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye will return to court next month after his firearm-related case was postponed in the Germiston Magistrates’ Court.

The court postponed the matter to 7 September 2026 after Maarohanye failed to appear due to alleged ill health.

A warrant of arrest was issued following his absence but was subsequently held over until his next court appearance.

What charges does Jub Jub face?

Maarohanye faces charges of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing an object likely to lead someone to believe it was a firearm.

The charges stem from an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on 14 June 2026.

During the investigation, law enforcement officials searched Maarohanye’s residence and seized a pellet gun.

The case had previously been postponed to allow investigators to complete outstanding work.

NPA says State is ready for trial

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said prosecutors are now ready to proceed with the case.

“The State is ready to proceed with the prosecution and remains committed to ensuring that the matter is dealt with fairly and in accordance with the law,” NPA Gauteng communications officer Magaboke Mohlatlole said.

Maarohanye is expected back in the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on 7 September.
