Faith Nketsi detained in Thailand

South African influencer and reality TV star Faith Nketsi has reportedly been released after allegedly getting into trouble with authorities during her holiday in Thailand.

The socialite, who has been documenting her lavish getaway with friends on social media, is said to have been stopped by local officials over a vape-related incident in public.

According to BuzzLife News, Nketsi was briefly detained after allegedly being found in possession of a vape device while out in the Asian country.

Faith has been vacationing in Thailand alongside close friends, including Nadia Nakai and Andzelo Tivani, with the group sharing moments from yacht rides, luxury dinners and beach outings over the past few days.

While the trip appeared carefree online, things reportedly took a serious turn after the alleged encounter with Thai authorities.

Thailand is known for enforcing some of the toughest anti-vaping laws in the world, with e-cigarettes and vaping products banned in the country since 2014.

Under Thai law, the importation, possession, sale and public use of vape devices are prohibited, even for tourists.

Visitors caught with vaping products can face confiscation of the items, fines and possible detention.

Although Faith Nketsi has not publicly addressed the incident herself, reports suggest she has since been released and is no longer in police custody.
