Held under the theme ‘Umgidi Wa Bantu,’ the festival invites people to reconnect with their roots, celebrate African identity and honour the traditions that continue to shape communities today. More than a festival, EZIKO is a movement that celebrates heritage while creating opportunities for local artists, entrepreneurs, tourism and the creative economy.
Vision by Dumza Maswana
The vision for EZIKO Heritage Festival was born from acclaimed jazz musician and cultural advocate Dumza Maswana’s passion for preserving indigenous heritage while creating meaningful economic opportunities for rural communities.
Maswana says:
“EZIKO Heritage Festival is my way of giving back and reminding us that our villages are not places to leave behind, but places to return to, invest in and celebrate. Through music, culture, storytelling and shared experiences, we are creating a homecoming that honours our ancestors while inspiring future generations to take pride in who we are and where we come from.”
