Cape Town City FC star Jaedin Rhodes moves to Europe

The club announced on Wednesday that an agreement had been reached for the Jaedin Rhodes to continue his career in Europe after coming through the Cape Town City FC academy.

“Cape Town City have reached an agreement with SV Ried for the transfer of Jaedin Rhodes,” the club said.

“A product of our academy, Jaedin leaves the club after many years in blue to begin a new chapter in the Austrian Bundesliga.

“Wishing you all the best, Jaedin.”

JAEDIN RHODES EMBARKS ON EUROPEAN ADVENTURE

Reports suggest Rhodes will effectively replace Antonio Van Wyk, who recently left SV Ried to join Mamelodi Sundowns. Additionally, he will link up with former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder and Atlantis homeboy Yusuf Maart at the Austrian club.

Born in Atlantis in the Western Cape, Rhodes rose from humble beginnings to establish himself as one of South Africa’s brightest young attackers. After progressing through local football, he joined the Cape Town City FC academy from Atlantis giants Atlantis Leeds before making his senior debut against Kaizer Chiefs in 2022.

His pace, versatility and technical quality helped him become a regular in the first team, while he also earned recognition with Bafana Bafana, making his senior international debut at the 2024 COSAFA Cup.

Rhodes leaves Cape Town City FC having made 93 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and providing four assists during his time with the club.

NEW ERA FOR CAPE TOWN CITY FC

The transfer comes during a period of significant change for Cape Town City FC. The club is preparing for another campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after missing out on an immediate return to the Betway Premiership.

Cape Town City FC recently appointed Andries Ulderink as head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the Dutchman replacing Jan Vreman following the club’s unsuccessful promotion bid.

While Rhodes’ departure marks the end of a successful chapter for the academy graduate, the move to Austria presents an opportunity for the talented winger to test himself in European football.
