Zimbabwean Man Wanted Over Alleged Murder of Wife and Daughters in UK Arrested in Johannesburg
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has arrested 45-year-old Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, also known as Mark, in Kensington, Johannesburg, in connection with the alleged murders of his wife and two daughters in the United Kingdom.
Tshuma is wanted by UK authorities for the murders of his wife, Nothabo Zandile Tshuma (42), and their daughters, Natalie (15) and Nala (5). The victims’ bodies were discovered on Monday at their family home in Great Denham, near Bedford, Bedfordshire, after police forced entry following reports that the family had not been seen for several days.
According to SAPS, the arrest resulted from an intensive, intelligence-led operation involving the Interpol National Central Bureau, Crime Intelligence, and the Organised Crime Investigation Unit. Tshuma was traced and apprehended today, reportedly at a family residence following a tip-off. He is expected to appear in court soon.
UK police had launched a manhunt after identifying Tshuma, a British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage, as the prime suspect. CCTV footage showed him at Heathrow Airport on Saturday, 4 July, boarding a flight to Zimbabwe on a British passport, two days before the bodies were found.
Zimbabwean authorities had previously stated they had not been formally contacted by UK police regarding the suspect. SAPS is coordinating with British counterparts for further investigations and possible extradition proceedings.
