PAPA PENNY CALLS ON GIYANI VOTERS TO REMOVE ANC FROM POWER

Greater Giyani Municipality mayoral candidate Eric Nkovani, popularly known as Papa Penny, has called on eligible voters to vote the African National Congress (ANC) out of power and give the Mayibuye iAfrika Movement an opportunity to lead the municipality in the upcoming Local Government Elections on 4 November 2026.

Nkovani made the call during the party’s final push motorcade campaign in Giyani on Saturday, 31 October, as political parties intensified their election campaigns ahead of Wednesday’s polls.

Addressing supporters and party volunteers, Nkovani urged residents to use their votes to bring about political change in the Greater Giyani Municipality, calling on them to support the Mayibuye iAfrika Movement at the ballot box.

The motorcade, which brought together scores of party supporters, moved through the streets of Giyani as the movement made its final appeal to voters ahead of election day.

The campaign forms part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its presence in the municipality and convince voters to consider an alternative to the ANC-led administration.

Mayibuye iAfrika Movement is entering a competitive mayoral race in Greater Giyani, where it will face the ANC, ActionSA and the Democratic Alliance (DA), among other political formations.

With only days remaining before voters head to the polls, the contest is expected to place renewed focus on local governance, service delivery, accountability and the future leadership of the municipality.

Nkovani’s appeal now places the responsibility in the hands of eligible voters, who will decide which political party receives the mandate to govern Greater Giyani for the next five-year local government term.

The elections are scheduled for 4 November 2026.
