‘PNC’ skit parodying Dineo Ranaka’s rant draws criticism

People Need Comedy (PNC) recently shared a skit in which host and comedian Farieda ‘Pharoahfi’ Metsileng portrays Dineo Ranaka passionately sharing her thoughts on Sol and Mac G’s distasteful remarks about the deceased runner Elizabeth Moselakgomo.

The podcast host’s video went viral on X, bringing in mixed reactions.

The controversial skit

The skit showed Farieda seated and dressed similarly to Dineo in her original video. However, the subject matter differed from that of the reality TV star’s.

In a rant, the comedian covered the outrage over Panyaza Lesufi’s appearance at Scorpion King Live, the Converse saga around its most recent advert, and other viral social topics circulating online.

The skit seemed to recap the past week’s trending topics while emulating the reactions of people online, cosplaying as a person well-known for boldly and firmly expressing herself and her views to the public.

However, the skit was not well received by many, with a few X users sharing how they found it offensive.

South Africans don’t see the humour

Many were unamused and took offence. One user defended Dineo, stating that while people may not like her, they believe she is a “real one.” Some said the comedian was not funny, and others claimed her association with the other hosts was starting to affect her.

Those who found the skit funny defended the joke in comment sections and explained that this was simply how the show works. Others took the opportunity to use the skit as a way to laugh at Dineo.
