SIX Kaizer Chiefs players are out injured, but it’s not all bad news

Kaizer Chiefs have mixed news on the injury front. Two players will be out in the long term, but several others are nearing a return to action.

Mixed injury news for Kaizer Chiefs

Langelihle Phili and Thabiso Monyane are long-term absentees for Kaizer Chiefs. However, encouragingly, Paseka Mako, Nkhayiso Shinga, Kabelo Nkgwesa, and Khanyisa Mayo are nearing returns, although none of that quartet was considered for selection against Siwelele. Striker Mayo trained in preparation for the club’s 3-2 win over the Free State team. However, the former Cape Town City man wasn’t in the matchday squad. Perhaps this is a hint that he’s not yet match fit, but is approaching full fitness gradually.

Polokwane City is the next test for Kaizer Chiefs

The Glamour Boys remain unbeaten after five Betway Premiership matches and will be keen to keep that run going under coach Fernando Da Cruz. Last time out, they beat Siwelele 3-2 with Mfundo Vilakazi and Wandile Duba among those on the score sheet. Lebo Maboe and Mdu Shabalala assisted Vilakazi and Duba’s strikes respectively. Polokwane have made a more indifferent start, winning only once, drawing three matches and losing the other. Polokwane vs Chiefs kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday, 12 September. The match, as ever, will air on DStv SuperSport channel 202.
